The show switches to San Francisco where Frank (Rupert Evans) just arrives home and stares in the mirror at his wounds from Kido’s torture while he also reflects on his recent experience in the prison. Therefore, he concludes that both must flee Canon City. Soon after, Joe reveals that he read Juliana’s letter and knows her true identity. He then recounts how he killed a man in self-defense, and the only way to live is to move on with life. While Juliana grapples with the fact that she just killed a man, Joe assures her that she had no choice. This chapter of The Man in the High Castle begins with Joe (Luke Kleintank) and Juliana (Alexa Davalos) in a hotel room as the surprise attack from the Nazi SD spy near the end of the previous episode clearly affected both individuals deeply.
